Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland to work with you?

Not at all! Most of my clients are in fact based outside of the Sunshine Coast Region, interstate within Australia and I work with them remotely. Phone calls, emails, online collaboration as well as shoot day tethering (from camera to computer) all make this process easy and efficient.

For travel required outside of the Sunshine Coast region, travel expenses (inc flights & accommodation) will be charged and will be included on your quote.

How soon can I book a shoot?

I usually book out 4-6 weeks in advance, however, its not uncommon for there to be scheduling changes within 4 weeks of a planned shoot and it having to be rescheduled. It’s best to still reach out regardless and to see what’s available.

Do you charge image licensing fees and what kind of usage license is supplied with the images?

I offer a Standard Commercial Image Licence included in the project cost. This covers basic image usage and usually suits most clients. However, depending on your specific use of the images over and above this basic use (such as the type and number of mediums the images will appear in, the geographic locations the images will be seen in, the duration of image use & the frequency of image use), licensing fees may apply and will be itemised on your quote. These licensing fees are kept to a minimum by customising your licence to only cover what you need and nothing you don’t.

Note: I do not offer Copyright buyout of my work.

How many images do I get?

You will receive the number of images as indicated on your quote for that specific project. If you wish to purchase additional images from the same project (which have already been shot but weren’t the final selections), the cost is $100 per image and this will be itemised on your balance invoice.

Do I need to supply props or other items for styling the images?

As a client, you will have access to my large collection of backgrounds and props that can be utilised for your shoot and is included in the project cost. However, if you require specific backgrounds (different textures, sizes, colours) or specific props (different styles or quantities of ceramics or items which add to the theme of the shoot), I can source these for you and the cost will be itemised in the production expenses section of your quote.

Do you do food/product styling?

Yes. All of my work is styled by myself, although I won’t claim to be a professional qualified Food Stylist as such. However, if your budget allows and you would like a professional Food Stylist, please let me know so I can arrange this for the shoot. The cost of this specialised service will be itemised on your quote.

Do you do recipe development?

No. If you require a recipe to be created from scratch, utilising your product/ingredient, I would need to outsource this service as it is a professional skill. Therefore, if your budget allows for this and you would like a recipe created by a professional, please let me know so I can arrange this for you. The cost of this specialised service will be itemised on your quote.

Alternatively, you’re welcome to provide your own recipe for me to prepare & cook or I can source a published recipe myself for you to approve.

Of course as part of my service I’m always happy to use my own personal experience with cooking and combine ingredients together to create simple ‘recipes’ such as making a salad, burger or spaghetti bolognaise!

Are models included in the shoot?

No. If you require professional models, or even non-professional models (people other than myself, the photographer), incorporated in your images, this is an additional cost which will be itemised on your quote.

However, if viable, I’m more than happy to include my own hands/torso/legs etc into the images at no cost, to add to the humanisation of the scene.

Do I get my products returned to me after the shoot?

If your products are non-perishable and you require them to be returned, you will need to let me know prior to the shoot so I can arrange this. The courier/postage cost will be included on the balance invoice. If you do not require them to be returned, they will be disposed of after the shoot and will not be stored.

When and how do I receive my images?

Images are delivered via email access within 7 days of the shoot completion. These will be watermarked files which you will be able to view in your online client gallery. You will also receive the Balance Invoice for payment. Once I receive your final payment, you will then receive a follow up email providing further access details to download the unwatermarked files directly to your computer or mobile phone. If you requested additional file formats or crops, these will also be available in your gallery.

What format do you supply the images in?

The default file format is jpeg files. All hi-resolution jpeg files supplied are approximately 10MB, 3000px long edge, print ready (300dpi) specs. Should require your images in PNG, TIF or other formats please let me know at the time of booking your shoot.

Is editing and retouching included in the price?

All your images will be edited (inc exposure, contrast and colour correction) as well as retouched (spots/blemishes removed, packaging smoothed, any other basic retouching).

However, if your project requires high level retouching services (such as deep-etching/cutting out products for white background e-commerce shots), this is a specialised skill and the additional cost will be incorporated into the quote or added as an additional line item.

What happens if I want to make changes to my images after I receive them?

Prior to the shoot we will discuss your requirements to ensure we are both on the same page as to how your want your products presented.

Usually clients provided me with a Brief and I return a Moodboard to them, which includes extra considerations the client may want to have input on, including backdrop colour and prop selection. If the client doesn’t provide a brief, I will still provide a Moodboard based on our verbal/email discussions.

This process ensures the shoot happens smoothly and efficiently. From here I will develop my own internal shoot plan (with technical photography specifics) ready for shoot day.

Should you change your mind, have supplied the incorrect product or have any changes to the content after the shoot has occurred and content have been delivered (which can’t be adjusted in editing/retouching), a re-shoot will have to be booked. The price of this re-shoot will be 100% of the original shoot price and refunds of any amount are not provided.

Instead of a re-shoot, if you feel additional editing and retouching could work, basic edits are free, however, colour changes and extensive retouching will incur a re-editing fee which will be itemised on the balance invoice.

For motion projects, there may be an allowance for 1-2 rounds of revisions so please refer to your contract for more information.

How do I pay for my photo/video service?

After we discuss your requirements, you will receive an email with your online quote for acceptance.

Once approved, you will then receive a Contract (Terms & Conditions) for signature as well as a 50% Deposit Invoice.

Please note that your booking is not confirmed until the deposit is received, which therefore allows me to hold your shoot date in my schedule and start planning for it.

I will then be in touch to gather any other specific information in order to supply you with a Moodboard for approval prior to the shoot and continue planning.

When the shoot has been completed, your content will be edited and retouched and supplied for preview (watermarked) along with a Balance Invoice for payment.

Once your payment has been received, you will then receive download access for your unwatermarked final content.
